The Workshop: Identifying Key Benefit Areas

Having identified potential stakeholders in the investment, you arrange to hold a workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to identify key areas the investment will benefit and to ensure stakeholder buy-in.

The designated individuals clear their calendars and prepare themselves for an intensive brainstorming session. After several long hours of discussion, the following key benefit areas are identified:

  • Improve tracking of the product in Monarch's warehouses
  • Improve demand forecasting accuracy
  • Reduce time needed to find the product on the warehouse floor and in freight containers such as trucks
  • Improve tracking of products in the retailer's back room to reduce 'out-of-stocks'
  • Reduce time needed to locate the product in the retailer's back room
  • Reduce the amount of time that sales representatives spends on non-value-added tasks such as:
    • tracking down the product
    • writing checks to retailer for stolen item

Your next task is to guide workshop participants in identifying any limitations or constraints on achieving these benefits.
