KEY TO SUCCESS

Keep scope simple and matched directly to business benefits.

In the last task, the second document generated during the stakeholders' workshops identified Monarch employees whose 'front line' experience could contribute to a better understanding of how the investment in Ariant's Mini ID chip would benefit Monarch -- in terms of reduced costs, more streamlined processes, etc.

Interviewing additional employees is just the first of a series of activities you'll undertake to enhance your understanding of the company, its operations, and the industry.
  • List in hand, you begin the interviews.
  • You also conduct site visit to plants, distribution facilities and retail stores to witness actual activities.
  • To better understand the activities of each key area, you develop high-level process maps.
  • To better understand industry practices, you conduct secondary research to understand industry practices.

Close each window to return to instruction, or keep open for continued reference.

  • A guide for interviewing employees. Use this guide to gather information about company processes, product and marketing strategies, comparison to the industry, and more.

  • A sample interview conducted between the Harvest-ROA consultant and Mr. Will Sellum, Manager of the Sales and Marketing Division of The Monarch Company. Mr. Sellum has been with the company for 11 years, has 23 years experience in the industry, having worked in sales as North America Sales Manager and Director of Marketing.
Listen to a 4-minute audio recording of this interview. This recording is in .MP3 format and requires a helper application or plug-in such as QuickTime, Windows Media Player or RealPlayer. An additional window may open.
  • QuickSearch, a document containing links to trade journals, benchmarking reports, and other resources for the business professional. You must have an active Internet connection to view sites listed in this document.

Information gained from these activities will add to your understanding of how the investment in the Mini ID chip will make a contribution to the objectives the business change seeks to support.
