Almost two weeks have passed since you began your work at Monarch. After long hours of research and face-to-face contacts, you have completed the necessary tasks to take Monarch into the next phase of the process.

This page lists the output for Phase 1-A. It is a combination of the tangible and intangible, but puts you on track towards moving forward with Harvest-ROA's Business Case Development Framework.

Output includes:

  • Initial Buy-in: Your meetings with stakeholders at all levels of the organization have paid off.
    • Stakeholders provided you with critical information about Monarch's culture and operations that would impact the Business Case Development process.
    • Your meetings with key players provided them the opportunity to express their concerns about business change, and you the opportunity to clear up misconceptions or rumors by articulating and discussing the goals of the project.
    • You have begun to build the team that will move the BCD process forward through the next 3 1/2 stages.

  • Identification of Business Objectives within Monarch's sphere of influence. Those objectives are to:
    • Improve tracking of the product in Monarch's warehouses
    • Improve demand forecasting accuracy
    • Reduce time needed to find the product on the warehouse floor and in freight containers such as trucks
    • Improve tracking of products in the retailer's back room to reduce 'out-of-stocks'
    • Reduce the amount of time that sales representatives spend on non-value-added tasks such as:
      • tracking down the product
      • writing checks to retailer for stolen items

  • Business Documents that record the high level benefits identified in Task 5 and the Benefits Case Summary.

ADDITIONAL INFO

View the documents:

  • Benefits Case Summary. This sample document, in the form of a memo to the Senior Leadership Team, addresses one of the stated business objectives, 'improve tracking of products in the retailer's back room to reduce out-of-stocks'. A similar table would be created for each business objective and be included in the document.

KEY TO SUCCESS

  • Never underestimate the amount of effort required to facilitate and manage change where strategically critical processes are being redesigned.
  • Reminder! Ownership of the project and processes must be at the highest levels!

This concludes Phase 1-A of the Business Case Development Framework. Next, you will be have the opportunity to 'recap' what you have accomplished during your two weeks of intensive work in this phase.
