After installing the switch and selecting terminal settings, follow the steps below to set a password. Passwords are set from the Main Menu.
 | Select System Manager. |
| Select Security Admin. |
| Change Password Protection from Disabled to Enabled by pressing the space bar. |
| Enter a password. Press the Enter key. |
| Enter the password again to confirm. Press the Enter key. |
| Press CTRL-W to save. |

If Password Protection is enabled but no new password is entered, the default password is 1234. |

If Password Protection is NOT turned on, anyone on the network can telnet into the unit and change the configuration! |
